How to measure and determine the size of your product labels

    AnthonyBy AnthonyJune 29, 2022No Comments3 Mins Read

When it comes to product labels, getting the sizing just right is important. If the label is too small, customers may not be able to read it. If the label is too large, it may take up too much space and overwhelm the product. So how do you measure and determine the size of your product labels, so you can get them just right?

    1. Keeping it in proportion

While there is no one-fits-all size when you order stickers online, the proportion is everything. By that, we mean that your label needs to be in proportion to your product or packaging. First, you’ll need to know the dimensions of your product. You’ll also need to determine how much space you want the label to take up on the product. From there on, you can focus on the size of your labels.

    2. Finding the right size

The width of your label is typically the most important measurement, as it will determine how much text and graphics you can fit on the label. Be sure to make your labels at least a third of an inch smaller than your product. If you want your label to wrap around the entire product, you are a bit more flexible with the length.

    3. Label shape

You also need to consider how much space the label will take up on the product. A circle sticker will likely take up less space than a rectangular label, but it will also hold less text. If you want your label to be placed on one side of the product, you’ll need to make sure it is not too large, or it will overwhelm the product.

    4. Margins

Speaking of text, be sure that your label is large enough to contain the information you want to include, plus margins. Leave at least a 1/4-inch margin around all sides of your custom stickers for safety and to prevent them from getting cut off during the sticker printing process.

    5. Font size

Choose a font size that is large enough to be easily legible, but not so large that it takes up too much space on the label. Opt for a font that is legible and easy to read against the background color of your label. You also want a font that is simple and not too ornate. This will make it easier for customers to read your labels quickly and easily.

When it comes to custom product labels, size does matter. Make sure you take the time to measure and determine the right size for your labels, so you can get the most out of them. Your customers will thank you for it!
