    The Central Harlem Crime Rate

    AnthonyBy AnthonyJuly 29, 2022No Comments2 Mins Read

The central harlem crime rate has decreased significantly since the 1990s, when it was the epicenter of New York’s drug culture. According to DNAinfo, the area’s overall crime rate has dropped by 71 percent. However, residents of the area still remember the days of the “big names” selling drugs and being uneasy about the drug culture. As a result, they have moved to more peaceful neighborhoods.

The crime rate in Harlem is calculated as the number of crimes committed per 1,000 people. This makes the area appear safer than nearby neighborhoods, but it is also more dangerous than the state average and national average. Although central Harlem has a low crime rate, there are other factors that may make the neighborhood seem more dangerous than it is. A high crime rate does not necessarily mean that a neighborhood is unsafe, and many crime-ridden areas are actually in a higher-crime area than others.

A recent report revealed that the Central Harlem crime rate is lower than the city’s overall average, but the area is still home to several violent crimes. Despite this, these crimes have decreased dramatically over the last decade, with the exception of murder and robbery. The city’s violent crime rate has fallen by more than eight percent since 1994. In fact, the crime rate in central Harlem was the lowest in at least a decade.
